Romania: A European Gem with a Romantic Flair
Romania, as the name suggests, feels romantic in its own special way. My time in Romania was filled with surprises, from the vibrant streets of Bucharest to the stunning landscapes of Transylvania. Bucharest, the capital, exudes a rich European vibe—its streets are lively and beautifully decorated, yet it remains one of the most affordable European destinations.
As is my habit when traveling in Europe, I joined a walking tour in Bucharest, where I learned an interesting fact: people often confuse Bucharest with Budapest in Hungary! While exploring, I visited the world’s most expensive parliament building, a massive structure built by a dictator whose economic policies eventually led him to flee the country.
I found joy in the simplest experiences, like visiting local superstores and getting familiar with a few of them. The city’s central gardens were another highlight—beautiful, lush spaces perfect for a peaceful stroll. Bucharest itself is a bustling city with mesmerizing architecture that reflects its rich history.
The highlight of my trip was a one-day excursion to Brasov, followed by visits to Peles Castle and the famous Bran Castle, also known as Dracula Castle. The autumn scenery in the Transylvania region, especially around Bran Castle, was breathtakingly beautiful, with vibrant colors and a soothing calmness that made it even more enchanting than springtime.
Romania, with its unique charm, rich history, and affordable treasures, left a lasting impression on me. It’s a country where every corner has a story, and every season brings its own magic.
